Site Purpose:

1) This site is being developed to help cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, family members and others experiencing serious illness learn about and use the Internet (World Wide Web - WWW) as a key part of their support system. The Internet is a place that centralizes several diverse and important mediums for their support needs.

In addition to providing information the Internet can be used for other purposes beneficial to the seriously ill patient and his close support structure (i.e. family and caregivers). These include items as diverse as investigating Social Security disability benefits, personal support through "chat rooms", tracking down lost friends and family members, or simply a fun diversion.

Information is the key item the Internet can provide you. There is an immense amount of information on the Internet, both "good" and "bad". Good information is a form of empowerment. Common sense needs to prevail in this sea of "information" and contacts. Be cautious! Consult with your support team professionals (doctor, lawyer, etc.) before acting on "medical?", other information or in "chat" relations."

2) I am a cancer survivor and want to share what I have learned during my experience about the medical, legal, and social emotional aspects of a serious illness. I hope to do this through this site and a book I have written titled Confronting Life Threatening Illness.
